On September 4th, at 7:55 a.m. Austin (no middle name yet) Pope came into the world. He has about an inch of pretty blond hair and weighs 8 lbs, 6 oz, and is 21 inches long. He came in via a c-section, as did his older sister, and two brothers. All went well with the procedure, and Julie, our daughter did fine throughout it all. She's so glad to have it done and over with.
This is the coming-out picture. We stood behind a window that looked into the delivery room. It seemed that they had a hard time pulling him out. They used all kinds of scoops and forceps. It took at least ten minutes from the time they started tugging on him. I was surprised that there weren't too many bruises or scrapes on his poor little head.
This was taken as the nurse wheeled him from the delivery room to the nursery where they gave him his vitamin K shot, put the antibiotics in his eyes and checked his reflexes and hip joints. He seems to have made it into this world without any problems.
Jeff, our son-in-law was there the whole time-- A proud new daddy.
The pictures are a little fuzzy, as we took them through a glass window looking into the nursery.
This was a great day for our family. We now have three children and ten living grandchildren! We made it into double-digits!
