We planned our travel to and from Boise for our Thanksgiving Celebrations around the weather. We are grateful that we're retired, and have that flexibility. We made the trip north on Tuesday, and the Trip South on Saturday -- Sunny Skies Both Ways!!!
Andrea and Ryck are "Foodies". They're both adventurous in trying new recipes, and certainly prefer quality, even gourmet foods, even if it is a little more work. We knew that we'd enjoy a wonderful feast with them this year. We used several of our traditional recipes as well as some new ones. Andrea's cranberry sauce is the best ever! I brought a new "stuffing" recipe with corn bread, sausage and pecans. It turned out really good, but it was definately a lot more work than "stove top stuffing".
We all went to see "Life of Pi" one of the first evenings that we were in Boise. All the adults had read the book, and we were eager to see the screen adaptation. Zoe, Taytem and Rylee are all really into animals, and we were sure that they'd enjoy the show. It was good! It was a fun night out for all of us!
We brought a small wrapped present for each of the girls.We combined the gift giving with a reading that we used in our English classes in China, which reinforced their understanding of the words "right and left". Each time they heard the word right or left, they had to pass the gift in the correct direction. At the end of the story, each girl got to keep the gift that was in front of her. They seemed to like it.

Andrea drew a large cartoon turkey on poster board, and we all wrote down our blessings on colorful paper feathers. It was a good exercise to help us recognize the many, many things we have to be thankful for.

On Friday, we ventured outdoors to the Albertson's City Park, and saw lots of geese, ducks and even a couple of deer. It was a nice outing.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday with our family in Boise.
