It's about time that we got the Holland pictures up. We had a wonderful time! The weather was a little nippy, and we hadn't packed for real cool weather. But it was a great time!
Dave and I got to Amsterdam a couple days before the Bike 'n Barge began. As we rode the train into the Central Station, we were amazed at all the celebrations going on. Everyone was dressed up crazy and wearing orange. Lots of them had crowns on their heads, and we couldn't really tell if it was a sports competition going on or a celebration of gay rights. . . or some other odd frenzy. As it turned out, the Dutch were celebrating "Queen's Day," or the Queen's birthday. There was a lot of drinking and dancing in the streets. Loud music was everywhere, and lots of weird, strange sights to be seen in this libral country.
There were thousands and thousands of people in the streets!

We went to the Anne Frank house, and an international Diamond Museum (I think that's what it was). This picture of Dave in the BIG Dutch shoe was just outside the Diamond place.We rode around Holland and saw lots of cows and windmills in the country side, as well as the tulips and various beautiful flowers at the Kokenheim Gardens. It was so pretty!
The Kukenheim Gardens were a highlight! Here's Dave walking on water at this magical place.We were probably a week or two after the peak of the Tulip Season, but still were fortunate to see lots and lots of beautiful, gorgeous flowers.
We had a wonderful time in Holland. Despite the chill in the air and our sore bottoms, we loved it, and would highly recommend it to any of our friends!

The scenery looks gorgeous! Holland is definately on our travel list...but then where isn't? Brian is calculating our retirment date according to how many trips we still want to take while still working...oh dear, we may be here forever!!!
