Deb and Brian Wallick, good friends from our lives in the Middle East, drove from Denver to see us! They are enjoying the end of their repatriation vacation away from Saudi Arabia. We feel honored that they'd drive the eight hours between Denver and here to spend some time with us. It was great to see them again. Dave and Brian enjoyed talking about work at Aramco. Deb and I were active in the Dhahran Quilt Guild and Women's Group together.
We enjoyed a very tasty lunch at the "Garden Terrace" restaurant at Thanksgiving Point. We were seated at the best table on the patio, and had a wonderful view of the lovely manicured gardens. The food was great as well. They serve sweet potato french fries as a specialty dish. The tomato basil soup was wonderful! We had such a good time visiting and reminiscing about the fun times we shared in Dhahran.
For dinner, we barbecued salmon and enjoyed sliced tomatoes from our garden. The sauted onions, zucchini (from our garden as well) and garlic tasted good too. Cantaloupe chunks for dessert made for a very healthy, but very tasty meal.
It was so nice to spend time with Deb and Brian. We look forward to visits from other friends from Dhahran and elsewhere. We're finding that the only thing we miss about Dhahran and our lives in the Middle East are our good friends, and good relationships we shared there.
