We have these wonderful friends, Marc and Betty Mortensen. They were so sweet to invite us to spend a few days with them in San Clemente, California. We had a wonderful time enjoying the sea breezes, watching the surfers, golfing and sailing. The picture above shows the beautiful condo that belongs to Betty's family. It is the huge white condo on the far left. We had the whole upper level. (3,500 sq. feet).

The sea breeze kept the flys as well as the mosquitoes away . We're standing on the peer just down from the condo. It was a great place to watch the boaters, surfers and seagulls and pelicans.

We had a great time sailing for a couple of hours on Tuesday. We didn't get a picture of the boat -- I could kick myself. And this is the only picture that shows that we even went sailing. Marc learned to sail while he was at Long Beach State University. We wondered about his expertise when he almost broadsided another boat out in the harbor. We about ran over an old man in a kiak as well. These near mishaps added to the excitement out on the water. We had a great time. It was a lot of fun! It was quiet, and we had the feeling that we were a part of the greatness of the ocean.

Marc found this great golf course where we could play 18 holes, with carts, and they threw in a tasty breakfast sandwich for $15.00! What a deal! In the above picture we had just finished our breakfast after golfing.

Dave played all three days that we were there. I played 9 holes one day, and 18 holes the next! I'm learning how to hit the ball a little better. (sometimes). We had a great time being outside buzzing around in our carts!

We had such a good time with Betty and Marc. They're having a good time being retired too. Retirement, good friends and family. . . . . there's nothing better!

Our last night in San Clamente was spent sitting in a restaurant on the peer, watching this beautiful sunset, and the surfers in the water. The weather was perfect! We had such a great time with our friends. We're so glad that they included us for these three days of relaxation and beauty.

Wow! That looks amazing! What a great vacation! I just hope that grandkids are just as alluring as blue ocean and cheap golf... otherwise you'll start spending all your travel time on the coast! :)
